Iron Ore Fines and R.O.M of Fe content 52% : Origin India

The demand for low grades iron ore is on increase. In past five years the demand has almost doubled. In India the low grade iron ore is mined and supplied mainly from the State of Goa. The port available for loading in Goa are MPT ( Murmagao Port Trust ) at Vasco , and Panjim Port ( Anchorage Loading ).

Both the ports are busy during the season time of iron ore business.The low grade iron ore is not having much demand by the Steel mills in India. The maximum of the ore mined is exported and the main buyer is China other than Japan, Korea and Italy. The low grades of Iron Ore which are highly mined and exported from Goa are

·         Fe 48%

·         Fe 50%

·         Fe 52%

·         Fe 54%

The Chemical Specification of 52% Fe Content Iron Ore is

·         Fe 52%

·         Rejection below : 51%

·         Al2O3 : 6%

·         SiO2 : 12%

·         P : 0.040%

·         S : 0.25%

The Physical Specifications  for Fines are

·         00mm to 10mm : 90%

·         10mm and above : 10%

·         Below 150 Microns : 40%

The Physical specification for R.O.M are

·         00mm to 200mm : 90%

·         Above 200mm : 10%

Trading and export of other grades are also done. Since iron ore is a volumetric business, so more and more concentration is on quantity. That’s why lots of exporters face problems in grades while procuring the material for exports. Most of the local traders supply iron ore which is blended to in a typical ratio to get the required grade. For example, if there is requirement of 52% Fe content iron ore, they will blend 54% Fe content iron ore with 46% Fe content Iron ore in such ration that the grade of 52% Fe content will the mean of the entire quantity. The blending is only done when the costing is matching with the market price of the productive / mean grade.

Homogeneous cargo is only available with direct mine owners and since they are already booked and all lines are full, it’s not easy possible to procure the iron ore directly from the miners in Goa. If you have good relation and already you are in their regular buyer list, then they may be able to consider for supplying you subjected to availability.

That’s the reason that maximum of the exporters purchase and procure iron ore from local traders in Goa and complete their shipments on time.
